These are healthy, very stocky, very heavily rooted Black Walnut tree seedlings that are shipped bare-root and healthy (all are over 2 feet tall with healthy, large root systems and some are closer to 3 feet tall).

Black walnut logs bring premium prices, and have since the 1700’s, with single trees bringing up to $20,000. Bruce Thompson, author of “Black Walnut For Profit,” estimates a mature stand of black walnut trees can bring about $100,000 per acre in timber value alone. The fine, straight-grained wood is used for furniture, veneer and other fine valuables.

When grown in the open, the black walnut reaches 75′ tall with a round, low branching, open crown that spreads nearly as wide as it is tall. In forests and plantations, the tree may reach 150 feet tall with age. It develops a deep taproot and is a very hardy tree. The nuts produce a rich flavored treat. The trees bear in 12-15 years.
